The Baldwin Hills Alphas are the Mu Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., serving the community overlooking the Los Angeles Basin since 1977. Their work centers on brotherhood, service, and leadership, backed by real numbers: over 50 active and financial brothers, 20 life members, more than 20 community service projects a year, up to $10,000 in scholarships awarded to local high school seniors annually, and up to $2,000 raised each year for March of Dimes. Beyond their own chapter, they mentor and advise two neighboring undergraduate chapters at UCLA and Pepperdine, and stay active in the Los Angeles Area Pan-Hellenic Council.
